Illinois political trivia

My friend Martin had a good bit of Illinois political trivia last week that people might like.

Who and when was the last elected Democratic Governor of Illinois that did not serve time in prison after leaving office?

Click on "continue reading" for the answer!

Answer: Adlai Stevenson who was elected Governor in 1948.

Democrats Otto Kerner and Daniel Walker both served prison terms. Sam Shapiro, who was briefly Governor in 1968, never went to prison, but he was also never elected to the office. Besides those three, all other Governors since Stevenson have been Republicans.

No one I've posed this question to so far believes that Blagojevich is likely to break the streak.
