I saw this in the Springfield "Neighborhood News" and remembered that I often hear people complain about the lack of glass recycling.

Glass Recycling Collection
A free drop-off recycling collection for ALL COLORS of glass bottles and jars will be held soon:
Saturday, October 3, 2009
8:00 am – 12:00 noon
IL State Fairgrounds
(enter Gate 11 at Sangamon Avenue & 8th Street)

Note that other recyclables will NOT be accepted at this collection; only glass bottles, jars or jugs that food or drink came in will be accepted. Please do not bring vases, kitchenware, windowpanes, eyeglasses or other types of glass. PLEASE rinse bottles/jars/jugs clean and remove lids prior to dropoff.
This collection is open to all area residents and is co-sponsored by the City of Springfield and Illinois Department of Agriculture. Bring those bottles and jars you’ve been saving…hope to see you Oct 3rd!
